How to Achieve Proper Ventilation

Proper ventilation is essential to prolonging the lifespan of your roof. No two roofs are the same so we create custom ventilation for each project.  Effective ventilation provides continual airflow on the underside of the roof. In order to achieve a balanced system, we create an intake ventilation in the lower portion of the roof and exhaust ventilation at the top of the roof.

To ensure proper ventilation there are a few important things considered:

  • Having two differing types of exhaust vents on the same roof as the attic can lead to short circuiting.
  • Make sure insulation is not covering the intake vents.
  • Ensure vents have not been painted shut restricting airflow.
  • Exhaust fans in bathrooms, laundry rooms and kitchens should vent to the exterior of your home and not up into the attic.

Our goal is to give your roof the longest life possible. Ventilation extends the life of your roof. All the materials used will last longer if the surface temperatures are reduced.
